The annual conference of the World Economic Forum (WEF), originally planned for January, is now to take place from May 22nd to 26th in Davos, Switzerland.
“After all the virtual meetings of the past two years, leaders from politics, business and civil society must finally meet again in person,” said WEF founder Klaus Schwab on Friday.
Last year, the conference with top representatives was canceled due to the corona pandemic. And this year, too, the traditional date at the beginning of the year could not be met due to the spread of the omicron variant. Instead, online events took place this week.
According to the organizers, the recovery of the global economy after the pandemic, how to deal with climate change and changes in the world of work will be discussed in Davos in May.
But the date in early summer is not yet one hundred percent certain: “The meeting will take place when all the necessary conditions are met to guarantee the health and safety of the guests and the host community,” said the World Economic Forum.
With few exceptions, the foundation has held its annual meeting in the winter sports resort of Davos for decades. There, entrepreneurs and politicians exchange views on the pressing issues of business and society. The conference is always attended by high-calibre heads of government and top managers from global corporations.
