Important parts of the metal and electrical industries are doing poorly economically. Nevertheless, a new collective agreement for around 3.9 million employees has been finalized.

Employees in the German metal and electrical industry receive more money. In a pilot agreement for Bavaria and the northern collective bargaining area, wage increases of 5.1 percent have been agreed in two stages, as employers and IG Metall announced after 18 hours of negotiations in Hamburg.

First, a one-off payment of 600 euros should be made by February 2025 at the latest. The table increases should take effect on April 1st for the next two years. The first stage brings an increase of 2.0 percent, the second then 3.1 percent.

A disproportionate increase of 140 euros per month was agreed for trainees, which will apply from January 2025. You will not receive a one-off payment.

The result, which will run for 25 months, is to be transferred to all 3.9 million employees in the industry. There are eleven tariff regions in total.
