The pandemic in the previous year caused a number of companies to give up – the most significant is the decline of minus ten percent in Vienna. In winter, the number of farms fell from more than 62,400 to 57,000. In the summer, 64,800 companies were only 650 less active than in the previous year. This is shown by the annual structure survey by Statistics Austria.
The supply of beds developed in a similar way, falling by ten percent to a good one million beds in the almost completely canceled winter season. In the summer, on the other hand, a new ten-year high of 1.285 million beds was offered.
The statisticians point out that there was a strong increase in campsites last year, with an increase of 45 to 647 places. The highest increase was recorded in Upper Austria, where 25 additional campsites were reported.
Half of the available beds are in the federal states of Tyrol and Salzburg.
