Norwegian entrepreneur Olav Thon dies at the age of 101

The businessman was long considered one of the richest Norwegians. He then put his assets into a foundation – for charitable purposes.
The Norwegian entrepreneur Olav Thon, who was long considered one of the richest people in the Scandinavian country, is dead. The businessman died at the age of 101, the Olav Thon Group he founded announced.
Thon made the basis of his wealth with two red fox skins. He then invested in real estate, owning shopping centers and dozens of hotels.
Known for his red knitted hat, the entrepreneur contributed the majority of his fortune, estimated at almost two billion euros, to a foundation in 2013 that donates money to charitable and social causes.
In 2019, Thon married his partner Sissel Berdal Haga in Oslo – 30 years after they met.
