The candidate of Wide Front (FA) prevailed over the applicant of the National Party (PN), Álvaro Delgado, in the second round of the presidential elections and became the new Uruguayan president.
With 81.26% of the votes counted, Orsi accumulated 942,470 votes, against 898,767 of Slimin the data upload reported by the Electoral Court. In a total of 1,343,350 votes cast, some 30,674 were blank, while some 50,869 envelopes were completely annulled, with 31,088 votes observed at the country level.
Delgado, surrounded by the other leaders of the Coalition, recognized Orsi’s victory in tonight’s runoff. He assured that “without a guilt complex, but with sadness, we can congratulate whoever won and do so sincerely and from the heart, with detachment and with a very republican sense.”
