Through three provisions officers issued by the Ministry of Economy, through the Undersecretary of Air Transport, the Government authorized three foreign airlines to operate in the national territory.

This is the Chilean airline Sky Airline which will now be able to carry out regular commercial flights between Brazil, Chile and Argentina. The same for the Dominican airline Arajet which will cover the route between Punta Cana (Dominican Republic) and Buenos Aires (Argentina). And it also authorized the Peruvian airline JetSMART Airlines Peru to carry out regular commercial flights between Lima (Peru) and Buenos Aires (Argentina).

The details of the authorization

As mentioned in the official text, these new routes will increase flight options for passengers traveling between these destinations, which could result in more competitive fares. “Competition between airlines usually benefits consumers, as airlines are forced to offer better services and lower prices,” he says.

This happens in a context in which the Government advances in his intention to “totally privatize” Aerolíneas Argentinas and deliver it to the highest bidder.

In this way, an agreement between governments was formalized that allows an airline to operate in a new market.

It is also worth remembering that one of the low-cost airlines that operates in the country, Flybondi, was among the worst airlines in the world. The line canceled 28 flights in just seven daysat a rate of four flights per day.
