Axel Kicillof’s government authorized an increase above inflation in December, due to the salary increase that teachers will receive in December.

Private schools with state subsidies in the province of Buenos Aires will have a new increase in fees at the close of the 2024 school year.

As reported by the Association of Private Education Institutes of Buenos Aires (Aiepba), entity that brings together more than 2,500 establishments in the province, the Buenos Aires government authorized an increase in fees for privately managed schools of 3.8% for Decemberwhile that of November was 3.6%. The official decision reaches almost 1.3 million enrolled students. The changes in the tariff table are due to increases in the salary costs of teachers, within the framework of new parities.

The amount that arises from this final variation is also used as a parameter to set the value of the so-called “tuition” that students pay annually to guarantee their place in the 2025 school year. Or for those who join the educational scheme. As established by an agreement between authorities and schools, there is a charge 1.5 times the cost of the December installment as “tuition” for the following year.

What will the teacher salary be in December?

The government of Axel Kicillof agreed with the state unions an improvement of 4% in October and 4% in November to be paid in December. At the end of August, the Buenos Aires authorities had authorized a tariff schedule that covered the months of September (4.5%) and October (4%).

From the Association of Private Education Institutes of Buenos Aires (Aiepba) they explained that “these increases accompany the values set by the authorities for the salaries of the teachers and professors who work in our institutes. But this year, the establishments are facing with a lot of difficulty excessive operating costs, especially those derived from services. We have buildings and schools that have received bills three and even four times higher than previous months. The schools make an enormous effort to maintain the quality of the educational service in this context,” explained the Executive Secretary of Aiepba, Martín Zurita.
