The meeting, held at Ternium’s General Savio plant, was organized at the request of the union due to the lack of significant progress in the formal meetings with the Argentine Steel Chamber, which brings together the main employers in the sector.

In addition to Furlán and Rocca, the deputy secretary of the UOM and leader of the San Nicolás – Ramallo section, Naldo Brunelli, participated in the meeting, who described the situation as “stalled, in neutral“. Also attending were Martín Berardi, executive president of Ternium Argentina, and Marcelo de Virgiliis, director of Human Resources at Tenaris, who connected virtually.
What the UOM requires
In this instance, the negotiations focus on workers in companies such as Ternium, Acindar and Tenaris. The UOM demands a retroactive salary adjustment with increases of 4% monthly for July and August, and 3% for September and October, while the business proposal is limited to increases close to 2%.
