Great Britain wants to put more people into work

The British Labor Minister says that 2.8 million people are not working because of long-term illnesses. London also wants to do more for young people – football should also help with this.

The British government wants to get more people into work. Labor Minister Liz Kendall said in Parliament in London that 2.8 million people would not work because of long-term illnesses. Almost a million young people are neither in training nor in employment.

The social democratic Labor government now wants to guarantee that 18 to 21 year olds in England have access to either training, further training or help finding a job. Every young person should either earn money or learn something, Kendall said.

The Premier League should also help

When it comes to training, the government is also relying on the support of well-known sports and cultural organizations, such as the Premier League, the Royal Shakespeare Company and the television channel Channel 4. The government also wants to improve job centers and the NHS.

In a statement, Prime Minister Keir Starmer blamed the previous conservative government, which he replaced with his cabinet in July. From the broken NHS, the stagnating economy and the millions of people out of work – “the government has inherited a country that simply doesn’t work”.
