The European currency accelerated growth by 1.67%, to 89.335 rubles, at 13:56 Moscow time.
The last time the euro exchange rate rose above 89 rubles was on December 1, 2020.
By 11:20 Moscow time, the euro rose to 88.05 rubles, by 11:35 Moscow time the European currency slowed down to 88.03 rubles. The dollar at 12:10 Moscow time rose to 78.22 rubles. At 12:06 Moscow time, the exchange rate of the American currency was 78.01 rubles. The last time the rate rose to such a value was on April 7, 2021.
On January 14, Anna Bodrova, a senior analyst at the Alpari information and analytical center, told Izvestia that the exchange rate of the European currency rose on the world currency market in response to the weakening of the US dollar: it is expected that the US Federal Reserve (FRS) will raise the interest rate this year in four times, not twice as expected before.
The day before, Vladislav Ginko, an economist and teacher at the RANEPA, said that the weakening of the ruble against the dollar and the euro is emotional in nature against the backdrop of threats of sanctions from the United States.
