Timetable notices on paper: no more arrival plans

Deutsche Bahn’s timetable notices are legendary. Digitalization is progressing. What does this mean for the large showcases in the future?

In the future, Deutsche Bahn will no longer display arrival schedule notices at train stations. So far, the large display cases can be found at every train station: yellow is departure, white is arrival. As of December 15th, notices for arrival schedules at train stations will no longer be available, as the company announced in Berlin.

“Travellers need reliable information in real time,” it said. The most reliable way to find out the arrival time and the arrival platform at the station is via the monitors, the live arrival boards or the dynamic displays directly on the platform.

The information can also be accessed via the Internet and the Deutsche Bahn app. Since the paper notices are rarely used by travelers, but require a lot of effort in data maintenance and printing, they are not used. The printed yellow departure schedules continued to be part of the image of the train stations. The “Stuttgarter Nachrichten” and the “Stuttgarter Zeitung” initially reported on it.
