Reduce the packaging waste generated by online retail: That’s what the Italian start-up Movopack, based in Milan, wants to do. The packaging developed contains a return label and can be returned to the company by post by consumers after unpacking their order.
Movopack is reprocessing the packaging, which is made from recycled polypropylene – it should be able to be reused up to twenty times. “Our long-term goal is to make sustainability not just an option, but a standard in e-commerce,” says Movopack co-founder Tomaso Torriani.
Greiner Innoventures was convinced by the idea: the Viennese company of the Kremsmünster-based group, which specializes in plastic and foam solutions, is investing in the start-up with a mid-six-figure amount. “By investing in Movopack, we are pursuing our strategy of driving forward sustainable innovations in the packaging industry,” says Roland Riepl, Managing Director of Greiner Innoventures.
