By 2027, Rosneft will build 10 Arc-7 oil tankers at Zvezda SSC (created by a consortium of investors led by the company on behalf of Russian President Vladimir Putin). Rosneft told Izvestia about this. The company said that the first ship will be ready in 2024, two more will be built in 2025, three in 2026 and four in 2027.
“Today, we are not just creating an ultra-modern shipbuilding cluster from scratch, which has no analogues in Russia, we are at the origins of creating a completely new industry for our country — large-tonnage civil shipbuilding. Of course, this is both an intellectual and a technological challenge, and we have to solve a number of tasks from the wheels, ”Andrey Shishkin, vice president of Rosneft, told Izvestia.
The fact that Zvezda expects to sign contracts for the construction of ten tankers for the Vostok Oil project was previously reported by Deputy General Director of SSK Konstantin Globenko. We are talking about shuttle tankers with a deadweight of 120 thousand tons, he specified.
The construction of tankers will increase the transportation of hydrocarbons along the Northern Sea Route, and hence their production in the northern region of the country, which will accelerate the economic development of a number of Russian regions, Dmitry Baranov, a leading expert at Finam Management, believes.
However, according to Alexander Frolov, deputy general director of the Institute of National Energy, one of the main tasks of building ships is the development of the necessary transport capacities that will ensure the year-round export of oil produced under Vostok Oil. As Izvestia wrote, the Rosneft cluster on the basis of fields in the Krasnoyarsk Territory by 2030 can provide production of 100 million tons of oil per year.
