After the failure of the fourth round of negotiations, the GPA union announced rallies in Linz and Vienna around the “Black Friday” advertising campaign. According to GPA Upper Austria, around 350 participants gathered at Schillerplatz in Linz on Friday afternoon. Protests are planned in Vienna for Saturday.

“The employers’ insistence on a salary increase of only 3.1 percent for 2025 is a provocation in view of the ongoing inflation,” said Wolfgang Gerstmayer, managing director of the GPA Upper Austria. If there is no movement in the next round, the union is planning further measures, it is said. If necessary, the pressure on employers must be increased even in the middle of the Christmas business.
