German industry is in a crisis mood across the board – but there are exceptions. The engine manufacturer MTU exudes optimism.

The Munich engine manufacturer MTU promises its investors strong growth next year: Sales are expected to be between 8.3 billion and 8.5 billion euros in 2025, after 7.3 billion to 7.5 billion euros this year. The operating result, the profit before taxes and interest adjusted for special effects, is also expected to increase by a double-digit percentage. “We will continue to keep MTU on record in 2025,” said MTU CEO Lars Wagner.

MTU builds engines in cooperation with other manufacturers. The company makes a significant portion of its money from maintenance and spare parts. Sales in the maintenance of civil aircraft are expected to increase by a low to mid-teens percentage in 2025, and the spare parts business by a low-teens percentage. The company expects medium to high single-digit sales growth in the military business.

MTU is currently one of the few optimistic industrial companies. The company recently raised its profit forecast again for this year and forecast an operating result of over one billion euros. The stock market price has almost doubled since October last year.
