The last film the actor and director made together was 2012’s “Dark Shadows.”

“There are certain movies that I don’t want to make a sequel to”Burton said. “I didn’t want to make a sequel to that one because it seemed like a one-off thing. I didn’t want to do a sequel to ‘The Nightmare Before Christmas’ because it also seemed like a one-off. There are things that are better left alone, and that, for me, is one of them.”

Tim Burton and the possibility of working with Johnny Depp again
Although Burton has not directed a film that Depp has participated in since “Dark Shadows” (Dark Shadows) in 2012, Depp remains one of Burton’s most frequent collaborators to date. In addition to “Edward Scissorhands” and “Dark Shadows,” Depp and Burton worked together on “Ed Wood” (1994), “Sleepy Hollow” (1999), “Corpse Bride” (2005), “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” (2005), “Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street” (2007) and “Alice in Wonderland” (Alice in Wonderland) (2010).
When asked if he sees another collaboration with Depp, Burton responded: “Well, I’m sure there will be.”.
He added: “I never think, oh, I’m going to use this or that actor. It generally has to be based on the project I’m working on. That’s what cinema is about. It’s collaboration and the exchange of ideas with the people around you”.
