MSU Green Energy and Sofitel join forces to offer 100% renewable solar energy to their guests

With this alliance, MSU Green Energy, a leading company in the generation of solar energy in Argentina, becomes the main supplier of renewable energy for said hotel.

MSU Green Energy and Sofitel Buenos Aires Recoleta they signed a strategic agreement in the long term so that the iconic Recoleta hotel supplies 100% of its energy demand with clean energy from renewable sources.

With this alliance, MSU Green Energy, leading company in the generation of solar energy in Argentina, becomes the main supplier of renewable energy for said hotel, guaranteeing a competitive, reliable and sustainable supply.

Besides, The agreement contemplates the issuance of IREC certificatesa key step for Sofitel to obtain the green seal, a distinction that recognizes and certifies sustainable management, respectful of the environment, socially responsible with the community and with the tourist destination in which they carry out their activity, strengthening their sustainable commitment to guests interested in responsible tourism experiences.

Through this agreement, Sofitel Buenos Aires Recoleta will receive 3 GWh per year of energy generated by Pampa del Infierno, the largest solar park in Argentina for supplying large energy consumers. This will allow the hotel to reduce its carbon footprint, avoiding the emission of more than 6,000 tons of CO2 during the term of the agreement.

The Sofitel Buenos Aires Recoleta hotel implements various sustainability policies with the aim of minimizing its environmental impact and promoting social responsibility. Regarding energy management, It uses 75% renewable energy and seeks to reach 90% by 2030. Promotes water and energy savings through the use of efficient equipment and lighting controls.

In addition, it encourages the reuse of towels and bed linen and properly manages its waste, with recycling and composting of organic waste. In its fight against food waste, it seeks to reduce waste by 60% by 2030 and eliminates single-use plastics, using recyclable packaging and filtered water in reusable bottles. Their suppliers are selected for their commitment to sustainability, prioritizing local producers and using grass-fed meat and sustainably caught fish. It has also replaced plastics with biodegradable and compostable products. The hotel measures its carbon footprint and aims to achieve net zero emissions by 2050. In addition, it supports social causes through its collaboration with the Donarte organization.
