Prices slowed down in the Buenos Aires suburbs and some products fell by up to 25%

In November the prices of the components of the Basic Food Basket (CBA) had an increase of 0.4%, according to the survey carried out monthly by ICEPCI (Institute for Social, Economic and Citizen Policy Research) in nearby businesses in the Buenos Aires suburbs.

So a family of two adults and two small children needed $416,599.80 to purchase their food throughout the month, when the previous month required $414,923.16 for the same purpose. A year ago, in November 2023, it needed $182,905.48, meaning there was an annual increase of 127.77%.

The warehouse products increased 0.6%, meats 0.7%, while the prices of fruits and vegetables fell 0.56%. Compared to November 2023, the warehouse sector led the increases with 149.7%, the greengrocery sector rose 126.3% and the meat sector increased 95.6%.

As we have been observing for several months, the increase in services above the average of the Consumer Price Index (CPI), It reflects the increases in rates regulated directly by the government. This is reflected in a higher increase in the Total Basic Basket (CBT), which includes, in addition to food, a set of goods and services that are also essential for the daily lives of families.

In November, a family of four needed $945,681.55 in the Buenos Aires suburbs, 1.29% more than in October. A year ago, in November 2023, he covered the same needs with $393,246.07, meaning he required an increase in his family budget of 140.48%.
