From December 2024, citizens of Colombia, Honduras and El Salvador must process a mandatory visa to enter the UK. This measure is part of a tightening of British immigration policies, which seek to reduce false asylum applications that have increased in recent years. The decision is framed within a broader government plan to regulate the arrival of immigrantswith special focus on those who try to enter the country for fraudulent reasons.
This documentation will be required for all those citizens of these three countries who wish to travel to the United Kingdom, either by tourism or business. The measure will come into force on December 24although Colombians who already have confirmed travel plans will be able to take advantage of a transition period, without the need for a visa, if they prove that they already had their tickets purchased before the date. From that date on, all travelers must manage this requirement on a mandatory basis.
