The 6 essential tricks to save energy and not pay more on electricity bills

The Association of Electrical Energy Distributors of the Argentine Republic (Adeera) presented his campaign “I made a difference”an initiative that seeks to raise awareness about the responsible use of energyhighlight the complexity of the electrical system and value the professionalism of those who work in energy distribution.

The Argentine summer is characterized by high temperatures that drive greater use of air conditioners, which significantly increase energy demand. The use of this equipment alone in the summer season represents a requirement of 10,000 MW, 40% more than the annual average. Last summer there was a peak of 29,653 MW and, according to Cammesa estimates, this historical maximum will increase in 2025.

This increase can be reflected in Higher electricity bills and greater stress on the electrical gridespecially during extreme weather events such as heat waves, storms or droughts.

Tips for good use of energy and saving on rates

Through this campaign, Adeera invites users to implement simple actions in the home, business or industry to reduce the impact on the electrical grid, contribute to caring for the environment and reduce consumption by up to 30%:

1) Maintain an adequate temperature in the air conditioning

Set between 24°C and 26°C. Each degree below this range increases consumption by 8%. Additionally, turning them off in unoccupied environments and supplementing them with fans can make them more efficient.

2) Optimize lighting with natural light and LED

Opening curtains and blinds during the day can minimize the need to turn on lights. It is also important to replace incandescent lamps with LED lamps that are up to 80% more efficient and have greater durability.

3) Disconnect the appliances in stand-by mode

Although they appear to be turned off, they continue to consume energy unnecessarily. This “phantom” consumption can represent between 5% and 10% of the electricity bill.

4) Avoid the simultaneous use of high consumption equipment

Turning off the air conditioning in unoccupied spaces and avoiding using high-consumption equipment at the same time, such as irons and air conditioners, can help reduce electricity consumption at home, reduce demand on the network and optimize equipment performance.

5) Iron and wash at off-peak times

Scheduling these tasks outside of peak demand (1 p.m. to 4 p.m.) can make a significant difference. Adeera suggests scheduling these activities early in the morning or after sunset. In this case, changing the hours of use does not mean consuming less energy, but it does mean reducing demand peaks.

According to Adeera, each user has the power to collaborate in the care of the electrical system. “In a context of high demand and extreme weather events, efficient energy consumption not only relieves the grid, but reduces the risk of interruptions,” they held.

In addition, they highlighted that behind each switch that is turned on, there is a complex system that involves an advanced infrastructure and the efforts of more than 60 thousand people dedicated to ensuring electricity supply to millions of Argentines.

“With everyone’s collaboration, we can make a big difference this summer and build a more sustainable future”they concluded.
