The politician Mohamad Al Bashir was appointed as transitional leader in Syria, after the seizure of power in Damascus from the hand of the rebels. He made his leap into politics after the conflict called “Arab Spring“and his last recent position was that of head of the Salvation Government, from the group Hayat Tahrir al Sham (HTS).

He entered politics after a series of popular revolts in 2011 against Al Assad, within the framework of the so-called “Arab Spring.” which then spread throughout Syria. Al Bashir was appointed last January as head of the Salvation Government, a political branch linked to the HTS whose headquarters are in Idlib.
Before carrying out this position, it was Minister of Development and Humanitarian Affairs under the then head of that administration in Idlib, Ali Keda. During that period of time, he focused on modernizing the war-torn region and addressing the humanitarian needs of the approximately three million people in that province.
The Salvation Government, Al Bashir’s last position
Established in 2017, this administration has ministries, departments and judicial and security authorities. It was created to help people escaping Damascus control and unable to return to obtain government services.
Their demands ranged from an end to human rights violations in prisons, as well as economic reforms in the region due to its poor living conditions and opposition to the monopoly of decision-making by HTS, which is just one of the dozens of groups that make up the opposition to Al Assad in Syria.
