With the purpose of increasing bilateral trade, the meeting sponsored by the Embassy of that country included the visit of the director of the Armenian state business agency. The possibility of promoting an export hub to Eurasia drew attention.
In a room full of businessmen – Argentines and Armenians – The first Armenian-Argentine Business Forum was held, which was organized by the embassy of that country and had the objective of being the kickoff to start commercial exchanges that also carry investment projects towards Armenia.. The second step, planned by “Enterprise Armenia” – the business agency whose director Levón Ohanesyan traveled especially for the event – plans for next year a mission of businessmen so that they can learn in situ the potential that Armenia seeks to offer the country, with which, despite its close cultural ties through the diaspora, it has not yet developed a commensurate level in its trade balance, mainly attributed to distance. But also to the absence of information about the compatibilities between both economies.

Armenia has an inverse quality to that of our country: It has maintained macroeconomic stability for years that was resilient to geopolitical conflict. which even led to war clashes; Argentina, without border problems, comes from all kinds of economic shocks. The authorities of both countries believe that the current Argentine moment can provide a framework to now activate a mutual investment platform. There are already legal frameworks and agreements signed and work is being done to finish signing one that avoids double taxation.

The main objective of the first forum panel was to bring information from the featured industries. It was not only led by the ambassador Hovhannes Virabyanbut Ohanesyan participated (with simultaneous translation from Armenian), the Minister of Education of the City of Buenos Aires, Mercedes Miguel, Horacio Martínez, the president of the AAICI; and Ohanes Bogiatzian, head of the Argentine-Armenian Chamber. The presence of the Buenos Aires official has its reason in the recent adoption of TUMO, the educational system designed in Armenia and whose implementation in CABA, in three locations, was at the request of Jorge Macri that acquired the technology of this model to develop skills in the world of work, in the knowledge and creativity industry, as a means of transition for the demands of the labor market. It was read as the first step to enable a more fluid exchange.
Field, energy, textiles and tourism, the axes
In dialogue with ScopeOhanesyan highlighted referring to the business climate in the country: “We are interested in developed sectors such as agriculture, energy, textiles, and the tourism sector that coincide with the main sectors of the Armenian economy”. “There is also great potential to bring experiences of Argentine businessmen there,” said the head of the state investment agency that seeks to attract projects to the Armenian economy.

Levón Ohanesyan, director of Enterprise Armenia, the state investment entity of that country, arrived especially for the event.
Initially, they intend to gain a foothold in the areas in which there is the most development (and to which most of the well-known Armenian businessmen in the country are dedicated), whose main investor is Eduardo Eurnekian. “The event helps us to present, inform, and communicate so that there is more exchange between countries,” Ohanesyan assured this newspaper. In this framework, interest in a commercial mission, whether group or individual, was tested for 2025. The organizers considered the objective met if they detected that there were businessmen interested in the different Armenian industries, which make up a GDP of US$23.5 thousand. million for last year.
Knowledge technology is another of the coincidences that were highlighted and that, in that case, they do not suffer the consequences of the distances that have complicated – along with the local instability of the exchange rate – other types of investments in sectors of the economy. The event had a kind of user manual for Armenia that described demographic issues, fiscal and tax structure, political situation, incentives and the “promising sectors” from which they sought to attract investments. One of the points that attracted attention was the chance to function as a kind of hub for temporary imports that would be the gateway to the Eurasian market.
Ambassador Virabyan took advantage of the meeting to also announce the opening of two honorary consulates in the country, in the cities of Córdoba and Rosario to demonstrate the increase in the bilateral relationship. The organizers were satisfied with the results of the panels and with the enthusiasm that the initiative aroused, especially among young businessmen who see the possibility of making investments in Armenia.
The final balance of the Forum was attended by more than 80 businessmen, among which stood out firms that operate in the national textile industry, in livestock farming, in services for the industry, the technology sector, and healthcare, among others. Obviously, Aeropuertos Argentina 2000, TN Platex, Colortex, Edelflex, Ritex, Kkalsiyan, Kansas, Sueño Fueguino and Best Sox participated as notable participants as sponsors.
