Berliner ordered 744 double cheeseburgers this year
The delivery service Lieferando has evaluated the orders this year. In the best supporting role: a cheeseburger fan from Berlin who ordered almost three times a day.
The end of the year is also a time for reviews and statistics. Lieferando also looked into its books and presented a summary of orders this year. Data from around 16 million customers were evaluated.
One detail particularly stands out in the “ Lieferando Report 2024 ” – and raises a number of questions. Somewhat hidden in an overview of the ordering habits of the individual federal states, the delivery service chooses an “order master”. This person from Berlin placed a total of 1,051 orders in 2024. That’s quite a lot. But what’s even more astonishing is that there was obviously a clear favorite on the menu in the household: a double cheeseburger was ordered a total of 744 times, i.e. in more than 70 percent of the orders.
The most loyal Lieferando customer comes from Berlin
“Whether the person ordered so frequently out of pure love for the double cheeseburger or perhaps was looking for the best double cheeseburger in town remains unclear,” the report says.
The order record for the fast food favorite is certainly the strangest finding from the Lieferando annual report. Further facts: In Bremen, food is particularly often ordered after 10 p.m. and no one else in Germany orders food on the weekend as often as the people of Lower Saxony. The most expensive order of the year was placed at a Japanese restaurant in Ratingen (North Rhine-Westphalia) – for 1,699 euros. The people of Wiesbaden are the most generous when it comes to tipping (average 2.92 euros).

Burgers and pizza continue to be popular
Otherwise, the classics are at the top this year too. Cheeseburgers, chicken burgers and pizza Margherita were the best sellers among Lieferando customers this year. The cheeseburger fan from Berlin is by no means alone in his passion. Italian cuisine was preferred over American and Japanese food. When it comes to drinks, Cola, Fanta and Sprite were the most popular drinks.
But something is also changing in Germans’ ordering behavior: “The demand for fresh, regional and sustainable food is growing, as is that for special diets,” says Lieferando managing director Lennard Neubauer.
