Dax group: RWE performs better than expected in 2021

The energy company is doing well. Its adjusted net income was 1.57 billion euros in 2021 – almost a quarter more than in 2020.

The energy group RWE exceeded its own expectations in the 2021 financial year.

The Dax group announced on Wednesday in Essen that the water/biomass/gas segment and energy trading had developed much better than expected at the end of the year. Adjusted net income was 1.57 billion euros. That is almost a quarter more than in 2020.

RWE stated adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization at 3.65 billion euros, almost eleven percent more than in 2020. The coal and nuclear energy segment in particular grew thanks to higher generation margins.

RWE’s core business accounted for around 2.7 billion euros, similar to 2020. The Group includes the areas of energy trading, the offshore and onshore wind and solar segments as well as water, biomass and gas. The comparatively weak wind conditions and the drop in earnings due to the extreme cold in the US state of Texas a year ago had an impact on this business segment.

The group confirmed the dividend target of EUR 0.90 per share. The energy giant intends to publish the full set of figures on March 15 as planned.
