The proportion of women in the boardrooms of domestic companies is increasing, but is still far from that of men. This is the result of the Mixed Leadership Barometer published yesterday, Wednesday, by the auditor EY.
According to this, there are 16 female board members in the 55 companies listed in the Vienna Stock Exchange Index (WBI). This share of 8.5 percent is the highest since 2015, they say.
There are differences with regard to the sectors. The proportion of women is highest in the consumer goods sector (23.5 percent), followed by the real estate sector (12.5 percent). According to the analysis, there are no women on the board of directors in the IT, automotive, raw materials, telecommunications, transport and logistics sectors.
The proportion of women on the supervisory boards is higher than in the boardrooms, where, according to EY, a statutory quota is mandatory for 21 of the companies listed in the WBI. Here the total proportion of women is 29.7 percent.
