A disruption in the overhead line on the Riedbahn line is causing delays for trains between Mannheim and Frankfurt. The alternative traffic runs via another station.
Due to a catenary fault on the Riedbahn line between Frankfurt and Mannheim, there were delays in long-distance traffic. Trains on the route were rerouted via Darmstadt, a railway spokeswoman said. Passengers had to expect a delay of around 30 minutes. No train cancellations were initially known.
During scheduled inspections, a short circuit in a point heating system led to a malfunction in the electronics. The problem was resolved by midday.
After being closed for almost six months, the Riedbahn line was reopened at the weekend. More than a hundred kilometers of tracks, hundreds of signals and overhead line pylons were replaced.
