He June 6, 2007the world of Argentine music received one of the best news, and it was neither the release of a new album nor a concert. Rather, it was a tour, a band that had broken up 10 years ago and that announced its return under the obvious premise of “You’ll see me come back”.
In September 1997, Gustavo Cerati said “Thank you very much”and closed the curtain (or at least that’s what it seemed like) on the immense career that Soda Stereo had. However, there was room for one more surprise, and On October 19, 2007 the new tour began of the Argentine trio, which flourished throughout Latin America.
Due to the incredible demand, the number of shows was expanded, and after all that great return, The Soda did their last show on December 21, 2007, at the Monumental Stadium in River Plate.. The training was the same as always: gustavo Cerati on guitar and vocals, Charly Alberti on drums, and Zeta Bosio on bass.
At 17 years old, this was the last Soda Stereo show
The stadium doors opened early, and Peter Capusotto’s videos eased the wait. Then it started ringing “Someday one day”a song by queen covered by Soda, who opened the way at the beginning of the recital. “Welcome to the great rock party”Cerati announced while the first chords of “Seduction Games”.
The last show was distinguished by some particularities, such as the guest list. Richard Coleman, Andrea Alvarez, Fabian Quintiero, Gillespi and Carlos Alomar They joined the historic night. In the middle, frolicking and humor between the singer and the guests. “She is small but she plays like the gods”Gustavo introduced Andrea, who came up to play on “Picnic en el 4°B” and “Lo que sangra (La Cúpula)”.

TO Coleman, who played on “Primavera 0” and “You don’t exist”threw flowers at him: “Wow, what a feast! This musician played with everyone: Bowie, Lennon, McCartney and James Brown. As a guitarist it is the best. “We called him three days ago, he was in New York and he came.” He pointed out the Moon to Gillespi and said: “Look Gillespi”. For its part, Zorrito Von Quintiero mentioned him as part of the Soda story. And when Soda had finished his first album he invited the keyboardist to a couple of rehearsals, hence the great relationship.
Thus, with relaxation and lightness, the band went through the tide of hits that they themselves had created over the years. Once and for all, Soda Stereo left the stage forever. There would also be no room for one more meeting; After a recital in Venezuela in 2009, Cerati suffered a stroke that left him in a coma that lasted four years, and passed away in 2014. Thus, and without knowing it, it was a farewell.
When the show ended, the Soda leader extinguished the criticism and rumors about the reason behind the “Me Verás Volver” tour, and made the group’s intentions clear: “There was talk about money, there was talk about many things – he said – but this return was mostly about the music. And the success was rebuilding our internal relationship with Charly and Zeta”.
