The Universal Pension for the Elderly (PUAM) is a benefit granted by the National Social Security Administration (ANSES). This program aims to guarantee a basic monthly income to those elderly people who have not been able to access an ordinary retirement.
The process to access the PUAM is free and can be done in person at an ANSES office or through its website and is compatible with other ANSES benefits such as extraordinary bonus of $70,000 and the possibility of being part of the PAMI social work.

PUAM from ANSES: the requirements to receive more than 280 thousand pesos per month
- Be 65 years old or older.
- Residing in Argentina and, if you are a foreigner, proving at least 10 years of continuous and legal residence before applying for the pension.
- Not receiving income from retirements, pensions, or withdrawals, nor being in formal work activity.
- Have an updated National Identity Document (DNI).
PUAM from ANSES: the exact amount for January 2025
In January 2025, the amount of the PUAM was set at $282,725.61 which is 80% of the minimum retirement. This amount includes the 2.4% increase determined by the Consumer Price Index (CPI) of November 2024 and the extraordinary bonus of $70,000 that the government decided to continue providing to people in vulnerable situations.
