This is the completion of the longest horizontal well in the Neuquén formation. A depth and speed record was established for Argentina.
Dead Cow not only records in recent months new oil production records. This week a historic milestone was also marked with the launch of a horizontal well of 7,436 meters in just 46 hours, an unprecedented fact due to depth and speed for Argentina.

A team participated in the historic milestone for the Nuequina Basin Proshale together with experts from YPF and SLB.

As detailed by the companies, the operation was carried out in a single run using 2” Coiled Tubingan innovative tool that facilitates the process by reducing intervention time in the well.
Furthermore, the work had a BHA (Bottom Hole Assembly) of 3.13” diameter, which included components such as the motor TRX and the STEGO multi-cycle valvetools that optimize the operation, reducing friction and increasing drilling efficiency.
“This BHA was key to reducing the coefficient of friction and fatigue in the components, in addition to allowing flow rates of up to five barrels per minute, which guaranteed the cleanliness of the well,” they indicated from Proshale.
“This achievement was possible thanks to the use of tools created and developed in Neuquén, which played a key role in the success of the operation,” they highlighted from Proshaleone of the companies that actively participated in the operation.
“This advance represents a historic milestone for the Neuquén Basin and establishes a new standard for technical operations in the Oil & Gas industry in Argentina,” they noted.
