Given the claims of the Liaison Table, Luis Caputo confirmed that he will meet with the agricultural sector

During the afternoon, Caputo turned to his social networks to face the rumors that suggested that he was not going to meet with them: “Last Thursday, the Liaison Table requested a hearing from the Minister of Economy ‘to address the critical situation of agricultural producers’, but Caputo does not plan to receive the entities of the sector,” the minister quoted.

Under that framework, he assured: “FALSE. Nicolás Pino called me to meet with the Liaison Table and I told him “of course yes”. We agreed to meet as soon as he returns from this trip. Clarifying misinformation, once again…”.

The minister plans to return on Sunday, January 26, from his tour with Javier Milei, who has the inauguration of Donald Trump in the United States and participation in Davos World Economic Forum as main activities.

“It is time for a reduction in withholdings,” they say from the sector

The last meeting of the Liaison Tablewhere different representations of the agricultural productive sectorsconcluded with an exclusive priority: arrange a meeting with the Minister of Economy, Luis Caputoto insist on the demand for the elimination of withholdings for farm exports.

In this framework, the president of the Agricultural Intercooperative Confederation Limited (Coninagro), Lucas Magnanostated that “it is time for a reduction in withholdings”: “The request comes as a result of the complaints received from the producers and beyond that due to a logical issue of a rearrangement that occurred in the economy.”

Then he detailed: “Relative prices have readjusted in a way that has hit very hard in the equation of agricultural production and annexed to this with a dramatic drop in prices internationallythat with the withholdings that there are particularly in Argentina today make the majority of these productions be with numbers in red”.

In dialogue with Radio 10, Magnano acknowledged that “at the moment we have not received a response” from the Ministry of Economy for his request for a meeting, but was optimistic: “In the next few days we will receive it and I have no doubt that the minister will surely receive us.”

“It seems to me that it is time for a reduction in withholdings and a fiscal reconfiguration in Argentina. The numbers say so, the field in the last 20 years has set aside more than US$230,000 million and that is missing for all the productions and the chain to continue investing and improving,” he said.

Finally, he analyzed the current management: “We see the lack of taking measureswhich a priori they had promised that they were going to be fulfilled and in the meantime they were doing it in dribs and drabs and very little. “It seems to me that it is an ideal setting to discuss them. The removal of withholdings seems to me to be one of the points, not only because we as entities are devaluing, but because the producers ask us to,” he concluded.
