In 2012, Gabriele took charge of leak confidential documents of Pope Benedict XVI and from the Holy See to Gianluigi Nuzzi, renowned journalist. These documents revealed details about corruptionpower struggles and mismanagement within the Vatican, which generated a major media scandal. According to an internal investigation of the Holy See, various blackmailing homosexual bishops. The leak of the documents was a blow to the reputation of the Catholic Church and exposed several internal tensions.
In the letters delivered to the press, writings addressed to the Pope of Carlo Maria Viganowho was secretary general of the Governorate of Vatican City.
