Aerolíneas Argentinas will launch the codeshare agreement with the LATAM Group

Argentine Airlines will launch the codeshare agreement this week which signed with the Latam Airlines group that allows, among other things, the joint marketing of more than 140 destinations in Brazil, Argentina, Peru, Colombia and Ecuador.

The agreement was announced at the beginning of December 2024 and after a process of adaptation of the computer systems, it would be available during the course of this week, according to what was learned. Scope. The company would make the official announcement in the next few hours.

The agreements will allow the sale of tickets on national and regional routes between Aerolíneas Argentinas and five subsidiaries of the LATAM group. In addition, the reciprocal accumulation and exchange of miles/points will be activated in the LATAM Pass and Aerolíneas Plus programs.

Included in the agreement are the subsidiaries of Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay and Peru of the LATAM group. But the operation of the group’s subsidiary in Chile is not included..

The joint marketing reaches more than 140 destinations in South America, of which 55 are national destinations in Brazil, 37 in Argentina, 21 in Peru, 19 in Colombia and 8 in Ecuador. Regional routes are also added between Brazil/Colombia/Paraguay/Peru/Uruguay and Argentina.

Furthermore, these agreements will allow the exchange and reciprocal accumulation of points/miles through the companies’ frequent flyer programs, benefiting 48 million LATAM Pass members and more than 4 million Aerolíneas Plus members.

On the occasion of the announcement of the agreement, Soledad Berrios, Director of Strategic Alliances of the LATAM group, commented: “They are expanding travel options for customers, reaching multiple destinations in Argentina and the region. “These agreements provide greater benefits as a result of the extensive network of destinations that Aerolíneas Argentinas has, which strengthens the flight connectivity of the LATAM group in the region.”

In the same way, Leandro Serino, Manager of Network Planning, Itineraries and Alliances of Aerolíneas Argentinas, explained: “This agreement will allow us strengthen our Aerolíneas Plus program and expand the offer of destinations in the region for our passengersin addition to giving LATAM customers the possibility of take advantage of all the local flight offers of Aerolíneas Argentinas”.

The company rejected criticism from the pilots union

In recent days, the agreement with LATAM was the subject of challenges by APLA, the pilots’ union headed by leader Pablo Biró, arguing that there had been “lack of transparency” in its implementation.

From Aerolíneas Argentina, through a letter, President Fabián Lombardo responded to the union’s criticism. “This is an obvious reaction from Mr. Biró to the complaints made against him for his behavior contrary to the interests of the company. Biró uses the platform and resources of the union to protect himself from his personal wrongdoing. The alleged complaint does not have any specific elementand nothing that has not been dealt with transparently within the board of directors,” he stressed.

In relation to the codeshare agreement with LATAM, he indicated that “its nature does not differ of other agreements already signed with other airlines”.

Lombardo maintained that this new agreement with LATAM “would even be outperforming in terms of benefits that it would offer to Aerolíneas Argentinas customers.
