In a publication made on the social network “X”, the provincial leader argued that the right is making a “superhuman effort to mitigate the adjustment” and that “the money is not enough for almost anyone.” “Give up our sovereignty in exchange for pats on the back and trick prizes“he added about the head of state’s relations with the world.
“As usual, every time the right governs, we witness the superhuman effort to ‘militarize the adjustment’. That is, to mitigate or even pass off as positive the sacrifice that they make society suffer. Thus, celebrates as a success that bonds and stocks rise on the stock market while incomes fall and living conditions deteriorate of the middle, working, and popular sectors,” the governor initially questioned when sharing graphs that illustrate the drop in the consumption of beef, poultry, and pork.

Then he analyzed that the journalistic articles titled “Argentines changed their habits and now consume more chicken meat than beef,” are “a deceitful and miserable way of presenting cruel reality”.
“With Milei’s economic policy, meat consumption plummeted and is the lowest in 100 years, while the consumption of chicken, milk, fruits, vegetables, etc. also fell. They are destroying the consumption capacity of the Argentine people. With Milei, the money is not enough for (almost) anyone,” he highlighted.
For Kicillof, “Milei’s Argentina is like that, less consumption of meat and proteins.” And their country model is “that the majority reduce their consumption because they do not have enough income and that more ‘exportable balances’ of food as well as oil, gas and energy are generated.”
“Thus, we see Milei touring the central countries, handing over our sovereignty, our jobs and our natural wealth to the highest bidder. Foreigners must not be able to believe how cheap he sells us, in exchange for personal recognition, pats on the back and trick prizes“, concluded the governor in his X account.
Collapse in beef consumption in Argentina: for the first time in history, more chicken was eaten
Habits are changing at the Argentine table. Although the country maintains a high level of meat consumption in global comparisonan irreversible trend is sustained in the national diet: more chicken and pork are chosen than beef.
The estimates come from cross-referencing data from the United States Department of Agriculture, the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Rosario Stock Exchange (BCRA), which reveal that for the first time in the history of Argentina, more chicken than beef: in 2024, 49.3 kilograms per average inhabitant of poultry products were demanded, compared to 48.5 kilograms of bovine food.
This index represents the lowest level of beef consumption in the last 28 years according to the statistics of the Chamber of Industry and Commerce of Meats and Derivatives of the Argentine Republic (Ciccra). The gap in the figure is expressed if it is compared with the average consumption of the country between 1950 and 1980, when it reached 84 kilos per person.
Even so, and if the three main categories of meat (beef, poultry and pork) are added, the Argentina is the second country with the highest consumption globally, with 115 kilograms per capitacontinuing a historical tradition of the nation. It is only surpassed by the United States, whose average is 120 kilograms. The podium is closed by Australia, with 105 kilograms in 2024.
