Bureaucracy moratorium, predictability in investments and in energy issues: Union Chancellor candidate Friedrich Merz confirmed his election program for the agricultural industry at the Green Week in Berlin.
Union Chancellor candidate Friedrich Merz wants to relieve farmers in Germany in the event of an election victory for regulation and taxation. Among other things, he announced a “bureaucracy moratorium” if he became Chancellor after the Bundestag election on February 23. “Nothing new anymore,” emphasized the CDU politician. “For each new regulation two that are eliminated that are canceled.”
In addition, Merz again promised to reintroduce the agrardiesel gaps deleted by the traffic light government in the first months of government. “This is done in Europe, we will do it again in Germany.” For this, tens of thousands of farmers took to the streets last year.
Merz warned against playing biological and conventional agriculture against each other. “Both have their place. They, the consumers, decide which products prevail on the market at the end of the day.”
The CDU boss promised to avoid German solo courses beyond EU standards. “I would like to agree that we stop in Germany, what comes from Brussels, to bring everything up again,” said Merz. “If we have agreed on common standards in Europe, then these are the standards that also apply in Germany and nothing more and nothing less.”
