Green week with visitor growth: 310,000 under the radio tower

Dleed what doldrums? The organizers of the Berlin agricultural and consumer fair are very satisfied. Whoever came, treated himself to something.

The green week attracted 310,000 people this year, around 13 percent more than 2024. Despite the economic doldrums, the visitors were happy to buy: According to the information, they spent more than 160 euros per head, including at the 800 food stalls.

The first case of mouth and claw disease has been shocked in Brandenburg for decades, discovered in Brandenburg shortly before the mass on January 17th. Some animal species were therefore not exhibited. Nevertheless, the organizers were very satisfied.

“Find solutions together”

“The green week 2025 was a complete success,” said trade fair chief Mario Tobias. The number of visitors exceeded expectations. Experts have exchanged important industry topics, such as bioflors, sustainable agriculture and the care of people in the country with their own food.

Agriculture Minister Cem Özdemir came back to the mouth and claw disease, which he gave a big challenge. The fair is the place of the dialogue, said the Greens politician. “If politics, authorities and practice pull together, we can find solutions together. We are making progress if we not only complain about problems, but also look for solutions together.” For Özdemir it was probably the last green week in the current office. He wants to become prime minister in Baden-Württemberg.

For the exhibitors and the federal states represented at the fair, the green week is still a performance show. In its balance sheet, the Thuringian Ministry of Agriculture described the dimensions: around 22,500 sausages and 3,500 portions of fries from dumpling mass were sold from January 17th to January 26th. In addition, 12,000 liters of beer and the content of 765 bottles of egg liqueur were served and sold.

In addition, the fair is an important test market, added Brandenburg Minister of Agriculture Hanka Mittelstädt (SPD). She mentioned the handmade saffron soaps of a manufacturer from Hermsdorf and a start-up with African coffee beans. Small companies with niche products in particular could be visible, such as a family company from Falkensee with organic bourbon vanilla or the manufacturer of “Heuckenichtrum” from Potsdam.

Farmers’ President Joachim Rukwied called the range of culinary highlights impressive. The chief managing director of the Federal Association of the German Nutrition Industry (BVE), Christoph Minhoff, even spoke of a “high office for nutrition and enjoyment”.

In a representative survey of the visitors, 90 percent were satisfied or very satisfied with the visit to the trade fair, the organizers said. Among the exhibitors said an equally large proportion – nine out of ten – they wanted to be represented again next year at the fair. In 2026 the Green Week celebrates its 100th anniversary.
