In order to adhere to the tightened CO2 fleet limit values, car manufacturers have to sell more electricity. This could lead to prices in the second half of the year that go to the pain limit for trading.
In the second half of the year, the prices for electric cars could decrease significantly. The background is the tightening of the CO2 fleet limit values, as Thomas Peckruhn, Vice President of the Central Association of German Motor Motor Show (ZDK). To achieve the goals, you would have to sell more electricity and plug-in hybrids to increase their share in the fleet sold. “In the second half of 2025, a discount battle for Stromer and plug-in hybrids can be expected.”
The manufacturers would give the pressure, which partially loaded on them directly to the dealers and gave them the specifications of how high the proportion of electric cars must be in their sales. If the dealer does not achieve these goals, “he is extremely important to him for his complete new car business,” explains Peckruhn, who is a dealer himself. “This makes it vital to sell electric cars for trading. And this will also happen with offers that go to the pain limit.”
