Warning strike delayed at Swiss Post

If you are waiting for a letter or a package, you have to be patient here and there: a one -day warning strike delays delivery in some places.

Due to a warning strike at Deutsche Post, part of the letters and packages remained on Tuesday. Some of them could only be picked up and delivered, reported a postal spokesman. “However, we assume that these residues can be processed quickly in the next few days, depending on the end of the strike activity on site, and shipments can be delivered in the course of this week.”

Around five percent of the average daily quantity of package and letter disposal are affected by the warning strikes nationwide, the spokesman continued. Around 5,000 employees followed the strike call call by Tuesday afternoon. According to the Verdi union, 8,000 employees in all federal states took part in the one -day warning strike. “The mood among the strikers is good and they are determined by determination for their demands,” said a Verdi spokesman.

Third round of negotiations begins on February 12th

Verdi had called for employees in large cities and larger cities to the warning strikes. The union wants to increase the pressure on employers in the ongoing tariff conflict. The third round of negotiations is scheduled for February 12 and 13.

Verdi insists on a wage plus of seven percent and additional vacation days. In the collective bargaining negotiations, however, Swiss Post represents the scope for wage increases as “very low” because the letter quantities shrank in the digital age and the investment needs are large. In the third round, however, Swiss Post wants to present an offer. The company therefore considers the warning strikes “unnecessary because they ultimately go at the expense of our customers,” said the postal spokesman.

Deutsche Post has around 170,000 collective bargaining employees in its letter and package business. It belongs to the logistics group DHL.
