Yesterday the big cities were on, today the rural regions are affected: renewed warning strikes at Deutsche Post should also delay many delivery on Wednesday.
After the warning strike at the post office on Tuesday, many people should still wait in vain for letters and packages. In the collective bargaining conflict with Deutsche Post, the Verdi union called up the second day in a row to a warning strike. Today, rural regions in the federal states are affected. According to the information, city -states are not affected. On Tuesday it was the larger cities and big cities.
“In the second round of negotiations last week, there was hardly any movement and no tangible negotiation results,” said Deputy Verdi chairwoman Andrea Kocsis in a message.
Third round of negotiations begins on February 12th
The union wants to increase the pressure on employers in the ongoing tariff conflict. The third round of negotiations is scheduled for February 12 and 13.
Verdi insists on a wage plus of seven percent and additional vacation days. In the collective bargaining negotiations, however, Swiss Post represents the scope for wage increases as “very low” because the letter quantities shrank in the digital age and the investment needs are large. In the third round, however, Swiss Post wants to present an offer. The company therefore considers the warning strikes “unnecessary because they ultimately take the expense of our customers,” the postal spokesman said beforehand.
Deutsche Post has around 170,000 collective bargaining employees in its letter and package business. It belongs to the logistics group DHL.
