New owners found for shipyards Nobiskrug and FSG

The time of uncertainty is over. There are buyers for the insolvent shipyards Nobiskrug and FSG. But the employees cannot return directly to work.

There is new hope for the insolvent shipyards Nobiskrug and Flensburger Schiffbau-Gesellschaft (FSG) by investor Lars Windhorst. In the bankruptcy proceedings, buyers were found for both companies, reported the preliminary insolvency administrators Hendrik Gittermann and Christoph Morgen. The Bremen Nobeljacht-Bauer Lürssen takes over Nobiskrug, the Heinrich-Röner group from Bremerhaven, which specializes in shipbuilding and heavy steel construction.

At the FSG, the Searoad Australian shipping company appears as a cooperation partner until its ferry, which is under construction, is completed. According to tomorrow, the employees are supposed to resume work there at short notice.

Werften belonged to Windhorst

Both shipyards belonged to the tennor group of investor Lars Windhorst. On December 12, 2024, it became known that the district courts Flensburg and Neumünster initiated bankruptcy opening proceedings for four companies in the shipyard group. Nobiskrug and the FSG have had problems for a long time.

Nobiskrug has built far more than 750 ships since its foundation in 1905. The shipyard specializes in the construction of luxury yachts from a length of 60 meters. One of the most famous new buildings of past years is the mega sailing yacht “A”. The almost 143 meter long yacht was built in Kiel.

In the more than 150-year history of the FSG, many different ships were built: freight, cattle and passenger steamer, three-mastakon and offshore docks, mass freighters, fleet service boats and research ships. The shipyard was facing out several times. So far, someone has always been found to prevent them from doom.

The Heirich-Rönner group had already bought the steel construction department of the Rendsburg Nobiskrug shipyard in November 2021. According to the information, it employs around 1,700 people at 19 operating and production facilities in northern and eastern Germany.
