The small pizzeria “Pizza Cloud” doesn’t have to fear a lawsuit from the big Uefa. On Monday, the pizza maker from Gießen sent a legal letter via Instagram in which the European Football Association threatened to take trademark action against the sale of the “Champignons League” pizza.
Now the organizer of the European football competition has rowed back. “The Uefa Champions League can live happily next to this delicious-sounding pizza,” the association said in a statement on Tuesday, according to the DPA. With the threat of lawsuits, an “overzealous” local brand manager seems to have acted a little too “hasty”. Despite the obvious reference to the Uefa million dollar competition, the culinary creation does not have to fear any legal action.

The “Champignons League” pizza is a frozen pizza with mushrooms that you can buy in the supermarket. The inventor of the creation, Shadi Souri, says he produces 3,000 pizzas a day and supplies 1,000 branches. For the “Mushroom League” pizza, he owns trademark rights with the German Patent Office, Souri told “Business Insider”.
