Burglary in summer
Football cannot save the beer sales either

Last year, the long -term trend continued that people in Germany drink fewer and fewer beer. The brewers call reasons.
Despite the European Football Championship in their own country, the German breweries sold a historically low amount of beer last year. Overall, sales have dropped by 1.4 percent to 8.3 billion liters compared to 2023, as reported by the Federal Statistical Office. This means a new long-term minus record because people in Germany consume less beer.
Even the recovering export could not save the balance of the brewers. According to tax statistics, sales decreased by 2.0 percent in Germany, while exports were 1.6 percent above the previous year’s level. There are no non -alcoholic varieties that are not taxed and have had a continuous upward trend for years.
The weather also played a role
The sales of the breweries and beer camps have decreased by 13.7 percent or 1.3 billion liters since 2014. Now the lowest level has been reached since reunification. The main reasons are trends for a healthier lifestyle with less alcohol and the aging of society.
The German Brewer Association describes the year 2024 as a roller coaster ride: had the beer sales of 2.5 percent in Germany until May 2024, the market surprisingly turned into the minus over the summer. The “Weather Caprioles” contributed to this, with rain periods in spring and summer, the association announced. “Many visits to the beer garden literally fell into the water, and events around the European Football Championship were also affected. Nasse June was the worst beer month in the previous year with minus 13.5 percent.”
