Goal: Fast agreement: Rail and EVG negotiate in the second tariff round

Goal: quick agreement
Train and EVG negotiate in the second tariff round

In Berlin, the train and the EVG continue to negotiate more money. The talks are scheduled until Wednesday. The tariff round initially has no effect for passengers.

For the second round of tariffs at Deutsche Bahn, the Railway and Transport Union (EVG) has requested a improved offer from the employer side. “It is important for us that more comes,” said negotiator Cosima Ingenschay in Berlin. “At the moment it is too little in much too long term.” The EVG insists on a quick degree before the Bundestag election. Warning strikes are currently not possible. Peace obligation applies until the end of March.

Agreement in this round is not foreseeable

The talks started in Berlin in the morning and are supposed to continue until Wednesday. An agreement in this round does not consider Ingenschay to be realistic. Rather, it must now be clear whether the railway is also serious with a quick end.

Railway HR board member Martin Seiler emphasized that the scope for the train was tight, but the good work of the employees had to be rewarded. “We already presented an offer in the first round to make it clear that we want to negotiate constructively and quickly,” he said.

EVG demands 7.6 percent more money

Both sides are still significantly apart when offering and demands. The union calls for 7.6 percent more and additional money of a further 2.6 percent for shift workers. Part of it should be converted into days off. In view of the economic crisis on the railway, the EVG also wants to enforce an employment guarantee by the end of 2027.

In the first round, employers gradually offered 4 percent more and the 2.6 percent required for shift workers. The term should be 37 months.
