Edenor and Edesur consider a rate adaptation essential

Edesur and Edenor presented their economic-financial projections (PEF) to the comptroller of the National Electricity Regulatory Entity (ENRE), María Soledad Manín, in view of the public hearing on February 17 in which, together with the transport companies, will present their proposals for rate adjustments.

The presentations before the ENRE come after a succession of failures in the distribution service that worsened from December last year, with cuts in the supply on days of high temperatures that reached more than 100,000 users.

Neither of the two distributors has disclosed a suggested increase percentage for the time being, although that option could be presented in the coming days, before February 17.

In both cases, the assumption was made of a scenario for the whole of 2020 without modifications to the current rate charts, the maintenance of the social rate and the implementation of a minimum investment plan for the maintenance of the service.

In the Edesur communication, it was indicated that with these premises the company’s cash flow would have an additional deficit of $43,236 million.

Edenor presented two scenarios: one with the macroeconomic assumptions set by the ENRE based on the Budget bill rejected by the opposition in Congress (33% inflation and dollar at $131.10 at the end of the year) and another based on to estimates made by the company itself in October of last year (46.8% and $153.40, respectively).

“The result of the projection for 2022 with the macro variables sent by the ENRE shows a cash deficit of $50,849 million,” he indicated in reference to the first of the options.

Regarding the need for funds for the second scenario, “it amounts to a total of additional $56,817 million to cover the shortfall in funds for the period.”
