  • $99.9 for super gasoline
  • $119.9 for V-Power Gasoline
  • $96.3 for diesel formula
  • $115.7 for V-Power Diesel

For its part, the oil company Pan American Energy -whose brand is axion– assured that it is analyzing YPF’s price movement and its impact on the market, so that in the next few hours it will announce a new price scheme, which would be similar to the one implemented by its competitors.

Since Wednesday, YPF applied an average increase of 9% on average in its fuels, which -according to the company- aims to sustain its “growth plan for 2022 in a context of financial prudence, within the framework of the evolution of certain local macro variables in recent months and international”. The increase includes an adjustment of 2% more in premium products (YPF Infinia). In addition, the company controlled by the National State guaranteed that it will continue “monitoring the evolution of the variables that affect price formation.”

The president of the Confederation of Hydrocarbons Entities (CECHA), Gabriel Bornoroni, assured that the updating of fuel prices initiated by YPF gives “a break” to 5 thousand service stations. “We are going through a complex situation, with high costs and declining revenues for almost nine months; this measure brings some relief to the sector“, stressed the leader, in journalistic statements.

The value of fuels had been frozen since May of last year and according to the report prepared by a private sector oil company, since then the price of Brent oil increased 28.73% in dollars, while the wholesale dollar increased 11.86 %. Measured in pesos, the value of Brent, which is the type of crude that is taken as a reference in Argentina, increased 44% since the increase in fuels more than eight months ago.

Accumulated inflation from that adjustment to today would be around 25%. In addition -according to the report- in the last 13 months, since January 1, 2021, fuels increased an average 35%, depending on the variety. In that period, inflation was more than 54% and the price of Brent in pesos increased 120.07%.
