Vehicle manufacturing fell 23.3% in January, affected by production stops

Although the absolute volumes of production for the month reflect a decline related to fewer days of production, it shows a 52% increase in daily production volume, reaching: 2,180 units per day compared to 1,430 per day in January 2021.

On the other hand, the ADEFA report indicated that 9,298 units were exported, what one meant decrease of 22% year-on-year, and 52.6% in its comparison with December.

Regarding wholesale sales, the survey showed that in the first month of the year, the automotive sector as a whole sold 20,147 units to the dealer network, a 26.2% below the volume of the same month last year, and 38.4% less compared to the deliveries of the previous December.

“We start a year of many challenges. Although we project significant increases in the main variables for this year and we work for it, we are attentive to monitor what will happen with the supply of semiconductors and the logistical limitations that may arise”, he pointed Martin Galdeano, President of ADEFA.

Galdeano added that “We celebrate that the Law for the Promotion of New Investments in the automotive industry and the Sustainable Mobility Law have been included in the agenda of extraordinary sessions of the Honorable National Congress, which have strategic importance for long-term sustainability. of the sector and to be able to face future challenges, attract new investments and promote production, exports and job creation to continue being a source of international supply of high value-added products”.
