Financial industry: Commerzbank rents new skyscrapers

The Commerzbank Tower is one of the most striking bank towers of the Frankfurt skyline, now Germany’s second largest private bank is renting a new high-rise. The money house with the Landesbank Hessen-Thuringia (Helaba) has concluded a rental contract for 15 years for the new Central Business Tower (CBT), said Commerzbank.

From 2028, the DAX group rents more than 73,000 square meters on 52 floors. 3,200 jobs are created there. The CBT in the Frankfurt financial district is developed by Helaba and is still under construction. “In addition to the Commerzbank Tower, the new building will be an important anchor for Commerzbank in downtown Frankfurt,” said Commerzbank director Sabine Minarsky.

According to the Helaba, the 205 meter high Central Business Tower is completely rented to Commerzbank. The first employees should move in from the end of 2028.

Only tenants in the Commerzbank tower

The Commerzbank, which was courted by the Italian Unicredit, does not want to leave its iconic tower on Kaiserplatz, the highest skyscraper in Frankfurt at 259 meters. Together with the CBT, he should accommodate the bank’s central functional and staff departments, as the money house explained.

Currently, the central functions are spread over several building complexes in Frankfurt and in the nearby Eschborn. In the future, Commerzbank wants to focus on only two large buildings. At first it was not known which areas the company could give up.

Commerzbank had already sold its high-rise building on Kaiserplatz, the second highest in the EU, to the life insurance division of the Korean Samsung group a few years ago. Since then she has been a tenant there.
