The railway is expanding its cross -border connections. This is obviously well received by passengers, as current numbers show.
Vienna, Copenhagen, Paris – the trips abroad with Deutsche Bahn are becoming increasingly popular. “With over 24 million travelers in cross -border traffic, we once again exceeded the previous record year 2023 in 2024,” said long -distance traffic director Michael Peterson in Düsseldorf. According to train information, around 250,000 more than in the previous year.
Peterson baptized an ICE 3NEO with an old beer in the North Rhine-Westphalian state capital together with Prime Minister Hendrik Wüst. The ICE 3NEO has been in use for Deutsche Bahn since the end of 2022 and now, for example, between Frankfurt and Amsterdam and between Frankfurt and Brussels.
A quarter more passengers on the Hamburg-Kopenhagen line
The railway has recently significantly expanded its range of international connections. The most prominent is the ICE direct connection between Berlin and Paris, which has been offered once a day since December.
According to train information, there were significant growth on several cross-border connections compared to 2023. 24.7 percent were more travelers between Hamburg and Copenhagen, 15.5 percent between Cologne and Brussels and 5.8 percent between Munich and Paris. On the new route between Berlin and Paris, there are already over average for the entire first half of the year.
