VW employees receive premium again unabridged

Shortly before Christmas, IG Metall and companies had agreed to temporarily put the profit sharing of employees on hold as part of the austerity course. According to the works council, this only applies from 2026. This year, the payment is again unabridged, said works council chief Daniela Cavallo at the works meeting in February.
How high the payment is still open. This also depends on the profit in the previous year, which the group wants to announce on March 11th. Europe’s largest car manufacturer had screwed down its forecast for 2024 several times and recently expected surgical profit with 18 billion euros.
The decisive factor for the bonus of the employees is not the group result, but only that of the brands VW car and VW commercial vehicles. And also not only last year, but also the year before. The record result of 2023 is reinstalled.
VW no longer increases bonus
Last year the premium was 4,735 euros per employee. In the past, it had been much more in a few years because VW usually opened the bonus again. So it was over in 2024. Also this year there should be no surcharge on the arithmetical bonus. According to the works council, almost 80,000 euros per employee have been distributed in 2007. In 2012 and 2013 alone there was more than 7,000 euros.
From the coming year, employees will have to prepare for significantly less money. In the tariff compromise shortly before Christmas it was agreed that in 2026 and 2027 only a fixed advance payment of just under 2000 euros will be preserved that will flow in November. The flexible rest, which actually follows in May, will be suspended for two years. After that, the bonus is to be gradually increased to the old level by 2031.
