The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) has proposed to its territorial departments to hold meetings with large regional retailers to limit margins, Izvestia was told in the department’s press service.
We are talking about socially significant products. Retail chains that are ready to join the initiative independently determine the list of specific positions and categories, payment methods, and so on.
As a result, local networks from Kursk, Astrakhan, Novosibirsk, Ulyanovsk, Penza and Omsk regions, as well as from Adygea, joined the initiative. Meetings are still being held in other regions, the antimonopoly service added.
“The FAS notes that the joining of retail chains to the initiative to limit the maximum level of markups on socially important food products is voluntary. The service insists that if retailers undertake these obligations, then they must ensure the availability of goods for which markup limits will be introduced, ”the department noted.
