Care funds in need
BKK boss Klemm: Nursing insurance must become more expensive from summer
Nursing insurance in Germany will probably be more expensive from summer. The head of the company health insurance funds assumes this. The situation is “alarming”.
The head of the umbrella organization of the company health insurance companies (BKK), Anne-Kathrin Klemm, has warned of the insolvency of several long-term care insurance funds and demanded that the system be supported with higher contributions if necessary. Further premium increases are “inevitable if the new federal government does not support the long -term care insurance with immediate measures,” said Klemm to the news portal politico on Wednesday. “These increases would then have to take place in summer.”

Otherwise, she expects “that further long-term care insurance funds have to apply for financial aid so as not to become unable to pay,” said the BKK officer.
The agricultural health insurance company received financial aid on Monday to avert a bankruptcy. A “downward spiral” must be avoided, warned Klemm. “Otherwise the entire system is in danger – namely when many large long -term care funds also get into trouble and then the compensation fund.” After that, it doesn’t look like that. But the situation of long -term care insurance is “alarming”.
Among other things, Klemm asked the BUND to cover the costs for the caring relatives and for the billion dollar corona editions in order to avert increases.
